Head Orientation Leaders play an integral role in the Orientation program and process. Head Orientation Leaders will serve as a college para-professional and an extension of the Student Affairs Division staff. Recruit current students to apply to be Orientation Leaders for Summer 2020 through participation at the Spring Involvement Fairs and tabling at the different buildings on campus. Assist with organizing and running Orientation Leader Information Sessions. Keep track of OL applicants’ visits to the Career and Professional Development Office for resume and cover letter reviews and mock interviews. Help plan the logistics for the New Student Orientation schedule. Work with the Student Engagement and Leadership Marketing intern for Orientation marketing needs. Help plan the OL group interview schedule and set up for those interviews. Serve on the search committee for Orientation Leaders by participating in the OL group and individual interviews to help give feedback. Help plan the Orientation Leader Luncheon. Participate in mandatory Head Orientation Leader training. Serve as a mentor/role model/mediator for the OL team. Create the OL weekly assignments for the Orientation sessions. Facilitate small to mid-size groups alongside the Orientation Leaders. Help present valuable information about campus life and Penn State systems such as LionPath, Office365, Canvas, etc. Have the ability to showcase campus pride, enthusiasm and approachability. Act as a liaison between professional staff and the OL team. Trouble shoot any issues for the Orientation Leaders and the Student Engagement and Leadership office during Orientation sessions and other duties as assigned. Requirements of Head Orientation Leaders: Must be a full time (12 credits or more) Penn State undergraduate student. Head Orientation Leader applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and cannot be on disciplinary probation. In accordance with the expectations of the Orientation Team, it is important that they agree to abide by the following: Abide by The Pennsylvania State University Code of Conduct. Attend all of the Head Orientation Leader Training and Orientation Leader training program and attend all Orientation days (NSO,TSO and New Student Welcome) arrive on time, and stay for the duration of the day. Previous experience as an Orientation Leader at Penn State Abington is strongly preferred, but not required. Being present on the Abington campus to work throughout the Spring 2020 semester is strongly preferred, but not required.
