Buildings and Grounds, a division of the Office of Physical Plant (OPP), is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as the Facilities Supervisor of the Roofing/General Maintenance crew in our Maintenance Programs Department. This position is responsible for a crew of approximately nine technicians that are focused on a reliability-centered maintenance program to sustain the integrity of the roofing and building envelope systems. This will also include a defect elimination process for these systems at the University Park Campus. Developing and maximizing the productivity of the crew including; assignment of work, verification of appropriate time spent on the task, reviewing time cards, adjusting crew size by hiring and the use of temporary resources, communicating with Planning and Scheduling, providing appropriate training, and acquiring the required tools and equipment. Ensure first-time quality work and customer satisfaction by reviewing the planned work, conducting site visits to evaluate work in progress, and discussing the planned and completed job with the technicians and customers. Provide leadership to the crew by monitoring the work environment and making the appropriate adjustments, and by identifying and capturing opportunities for improvement and innovation or expanding of services. Advocate for safety by completing safety inspections, conducting accident investigations, track and provide the appropriate training, identify and resolve gaps in the crew safety plan. Accomplish the required administrative tasks, including responding to messages and requests, documenting activities, and responding to performance issues. Ensure all actions required to meet the request of the customers concerning the potential compromise of the roof assets. The Facilities Supervisor manages the work to ensure value to the customer while balancing multiple budgets. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This position works the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with Saturdays and Sundays off. The Facilities Supervisor will need to have basic computer skills and knowledge of how to use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), preferably MAXIMO, which is the current system being used by OPP, an understanding of reliability centered maintenance, including asset strategies, failure modes, defect elimination. Also, the knowledge of how to troubleshoot and identify methods to prevent and arrest water intrusion into the facilities expeditiously but safely.
