Penn State Brandywine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, Assistant Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences, (36 weeks) to begin August 2020, or as negotiated. Responsibilities: Teach three courses (up to 9 credits) each semester, in the baccalaureate degree program in Communication Arts and Sciences at both the lower and upper division levels using traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods. Teach course including Business and Professional Speaking, Organizational Communication, Communication Theory, Public Speaking, Research Methods, and/or Conflict Negotiation, and courses in candidate`s area of expertise. Teach day, evening and/or Saturday classes as needed. Publish in refereed journals. Provide academic advising and career guidance. Participate in campus, university and community service activities. Supervise undergraduate research projects. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment, and interest in active and collaborative learning in a multidisciplinary environment, advocating for diversity and values of inclusion. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication Arts and Science, Speech Communication or Communication. Evidence of potential in research and publication is expected. Research in Organizational Communication or Conflict Negotiation is encouraged but not required. Candidates should demonstrate the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching. Our students receive a world-class education delivered in a liberal arts college setting, and have opportunities to participate in undergraduate research projects supervised by faculty members. Students and faculty at Penn State Brandywine have all the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. The student/faculty ratio per course is low, so students can receive much individual attention.
