Description

The Smeal College of Business is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Programmer/Analyst in our programming team. We are looking for a team player who is self-motivated and passionate about creating programming solutions by working both independently and in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities include all stages of the application development life cycle from design to implementation and support of web applications, systems, and processes, and working with faculty and staff within the College to test solutions. The candidate will maintain familiarity with installed software standards and procedures and evaluate other tools to find the appropriate fit into application development and provide technical guidance to other staff. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You should be able to handle changing priorities and be willing to learn new skills. This position requires strong interpersonal communication skills and interacting appropriately and professionally with specialized and non-specialized audiences. The candidate will work with customers to analyze their requirements and provide specialized guidance, therefore attention to detail and a proven commitment to customer service are also required. Proficiency with code repositories, relational database design/implementation and Object-Oriented Programming in a web application development language such as PHP is required. Experience with or knowledge of PHP frameworks such as Flight or Laravel and using libraries are preferred but not required. This is a one-year, fixed-term renewable appointment.
