Penn State Shenango is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual for an Admissions Counselor in the Enrollment Management Office. The individual in this position will report to the Director of Enrollment Management and will assist the Enrollment team in meeting each year’s recruitment target from a variety of populations including current high school students; transfer applicants and adult learners. The counselor will also be required to plan and implement several programs and events for prospective students and their families. The successful candidate will counsel prospective students and families regarding enrollment processes throughout the admissions cycle; respond to requests from individual applicants, families, and guidance counselors through phone, email, and in the office; evaluate and analyze application credentials to determine eligibility for admission; and manage application follow up by running reports and developing communication strategies to reach students with active applications. The counselor will interact with individuals across campus and throughout the University and will make public presentations on a regular basis about Penn State University and related admission processes. Proven time management skills are essential as is the ability to meet deadlines and juggle competing priorities. The position will be filled as an Enrollment Services Specialist Level 3. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates must have a commitment to promoting and enhancing a community that fosters and supports diversity among faculty, staff, and students. The individual will have strong verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of office technology, and strong relationship-building skills. The position requires a valid driver’s license in order to visit high schools, college fairs, recruitment programs, University meetings, and conferences in the Penn State Shenango service area. Established in 1965, Penn State Shenango is a student-centered campus located on 13 acres set in downtown Sharon, Pennsylvania. It is the only urban campus among the Penn State Commonwealth campuses. Shenango campus enrolls approximately 500 students and offers both associate and baccalaureate degree programs, plus the first two years of more than 275+ Penn State degrees.
