The Food and Beverage Staff Assistant position supports both the Executive Chef in the Culinary/Stewarding Department as well as the Director of Restaurants for Gardens Restaurant, Legends Pub and Room Service. The incumbent maintains the restaurant's inbox and receives small event inquiries for the restaurants, books the business, completes banquet event orders, and provides instructions for the events to be executed successfully. The position completes payroll in the university's Workday system, tracks and edits punches, files paperwork and tracks the wage percentage model and temporary labor. The position is responsible in assisting culinary in the setup, menus, edits and report generation in food production. Duties include completing the new hire paperwork and orientation as well as submitting termination documents, checklists, etc. Assists with menu setup, edits and changes, daily distribution, buffet/table tags and projects as assigned. This is a 40 hour a week position with days and hours varying due to business levels. The successful candidate is eligible for Penn State full time employee benefits. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong support of diversity and inclusion in the workplace is required. This is a fixed term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent opportunity for renewal.
