Description

The Management Entity (ME) for Pennsylvania (PA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Education (SNAP-Ed), a federally funded program providing nutrition education to low-income audiences across the Commonwealth, seeks a financial assistant. The position responsibilities include assistance with the pre- and post-award activities for organizations either internal or external to Penn State. Pre-award activities include assistance in the review of individual applicant proposals for compilation into the statewide PA SNAP-Ed proposal. Post-award activities include monitoring spending of the ME and PA SNAP-Ed providers, processing invoices for costs incurred, conducting on-site fiscal reviews, and providing training and technical assistance to ME staff and PA SNAP-Ed providers to maintain compliance with University, state and federal regulations. Additional responsibilities include processing financial documents such as requests for checks, inter-departmental transfers, purchase orders, and journal vouchers in Penn State’s financial mainframe, IBIS, and travel reimbursements in Penn State’s Concur Travel System, ERS. Also, reconciling purchasing card transactions and scanning and e-filing documents as appropriate. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in the use of Excel or comparable spreadsheet applications for analysis and reporting is preferred.Knowledge of University-specific financial and human resource systems is not required; however, general and transferable knowledge relative to other financial mainframes is expected. Must be proactive in identifying problems and solutions and possess a strong work ethic and initiative. The candidate must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team, with careful attention to detail and accuracy. Strong interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills required. Effective oral and written communication skills required. Requires the ability to travel, a valid driver's license, and use of a private automobile. Since this position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties, successful completion of a motor vehicle records check is required in addition to standard background checks.
