Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist with an emphasis on strong writing skills and creativity who will assist with communications, including regular newsletters and similar publications and chair’s communications to faculty and staff. Duties and responsibilities include: Design and create promotional collateral (web-based, print, and video, for example). Support, coordinate, and perform assigned tasks related to communications strategy of the institute and its associated programs and projects. Assist, create, and write communications to the department faculty and staff as well as assist in presentation, writing and creative work. Respond to external and internal inquiries. Communicate with suppliers, vendors, department employees and other University offices as necessary. Meet regularly with the Department Chair to create content and write communications, and to help identify and/or communicate issues, feedback, needs, and Department activities. Responsible for the development, dissemination and presentation of Departmental news, events and communication materials. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The qualified candidate will be an excellent writer, creative; be detail oriented; communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing; demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills; and participate in, and support, team decisions and team responsibilities. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
