The Diversity Enhancement, Student Programs, and Outreach (DESPO) Office of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant work with other administrative support assistants to communicate and solicit information in order to support the efforts of the DESPO office to maintain student records, files, and databases; prepare various reports; process correspondence and forms; and respond to departmental inquiries. This position directly reports to the DESPO Student Program Director. Responsibilities include: Provide support to the DESPO staff members in administrative support of programs, meetings, and functions related to diversity, student, and outreach programming; communicate, organize, and process internal and external forms for student participation in ARL programs and functions; collaborate with ARL faculty coordinators, instructors, and appropriate stakeholders in managing all logistical details for student recruitment efforts, including managing conference registrations and travel. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Preferred experience areas include: LionPATH; CollegeNet; Confluence; ERS; K2; and iTwo. The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; professionalism with a high commitment to customer service; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; the ability to work with minimal supervision as well as work within a team environment and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for diverse members of the public, students, staff, and colleagues within the university; excellent Microsoft Office skills, band exercise discretion and judgement while managing confidential materials. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
