The Center for Immersive Experiences (CIE) at Penn State is seeking an experienced xR Developer to complement our growing and successful team ( Penn State’s Center for Immersive Experiences is a university-wide supported unit that has the goal to deliver immersive experiences for research, education, and outreach to the Penn State community. You will be expected to write clean, professional and manageable code. Implement features that are CPU and memory-efficient, adapt to multiple VR, AR and mix reality platforms. You will be able to and should embrace working with creative leads and artists. Any additional skills beyond programming, including 3D modeling and UI/UX design skills are a bonus. You should have a strong familiarity with writing 3D programming logic for to be used in Virtual Reality and other Immersive Experiences and demonstrate strong programming and debugging skills primarily using C# and object-oriented programming. We are looking for a team player with the ability to work well under pressure, be self-motivated and passionate about making immersive experiences both independently and in a collaborative environment. It is expected that you have an online portfolio or code samples. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
