Description

The Business Process Analyst/Process Improvement Analyst will report to the Manager of Business Analysis and Process Improvement within Penn State Information Technology (IT). The Business Process Analyst/Process Improvement Analyst will ensure that initiatives/projects are properly supported through requirements gathering, stakeholder analysis, communication plans, risk assessments, process mapping, gap analysis, root cause analysis, and project planning. Ensure appropriate project rigor, on time solutions, and value delivery. Responsible for leading/supporting process improvement initiatives. Document definitions and attributes of processes using visual diagrams, process models, process maps, or other tools as appropriate. Design new or improved business processes based on analysis; ensure improved quality, value, and efficiency. Maintain familiarity with installed software standards and procedures. Create wireframes, functional specifications, and specialized specifications. Write business cases/justifications, including financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting, total cost of ownership, return on investment, and variance analysis. Responsible for developing and implementing metrics/KPIs to ensure compliance and the ability to measure overall impacts on processes and organization. Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, and participate in testing and pilots to ensure desired results are achieved. Conduct team building and group facilitation, and prepare training materials. Conduct organizational analysis and make recommendations. Act as an organizational change leader. Support, develop and/or deliver communications related to the implementation of new business processes. Communicate in business and IT terms, effectively translating between business and IT resources. Generate and distribute reports and presentations to all levels within the organization. Understand continuous improvement and manage subsequent changes to improved business processes. Analyze existing processes in comparison with improved or proposed processes to identify gaps and/or necessary changes. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The successful candidate will have extensive analytical skills, including data/metrics, trends, decision making, organizational strategy, and research. Must have the ability to interpret and communicate process improvement activities. Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively handle multiple projects or initiatives. Ability to develop effective business relationships and build consensus. Must have excellent communication and customer service skills including persuading, influencing, negotiating, and resolving disputes with a wide variety of stakeholders internal and external to the University. Attention to detail is a must. Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is strongly preferred.
