Description

A NIH-funded Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Patrick Drew (http://www.esm.psu.edu/~pjd17). The lab works on dissecting the mechanistic basis of neurovascular coupling (Winder et al., Nature Neuroscience, 2017), and on understanding the dynamics of cerebrospinal fluid flow (Norwood et al., eLife, 2019. We use a combination of chemogenetic, optical (two-photon microscopy, intrinsic imaging), and electrophysiological techniques to understand these processes in mice. We are looking for an independent, highly motivated scientist to join an interdisciplinary group of scientists and engineers. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, biomedical engineering, physiology or a related field, and at least one first author publication. The candidate should have excellent English communication skills, and ideally will have experience with in vivo approaches. Penn State’s College of Engineering strives to build a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for students, staff, and faculty. We rely on the expertise, sensitivity and commitment of an inclusive faculty to enhance diversity, seek equity, and create a welcoming environment within our community. We are committed to nurturing a learning and working environment that respects differences in culture, age, gender, race, ethnicity, physical ability, sexual orientation, and religious affiliation. In welcoming every candidate, we strive to meet the needs of professional families by actively assisting with partner-placement needs. We are inspiring change and impacting tomorrow. The position is for one year, with extension contingent on funding and satisfactory performance. Candidates should submit a statement of research interests, a CV, and contact information for references. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and will be accepted until the position is filled.
