The Applied Linguistics, Communication Arts and Sciences, and Philosophy departments in the College of the Liberal Arts seek an organized and positive individual to provide supervision for the undergraduate and graduate staff who support the departments, as well as to act as a primary point of contact for one of the affiliated graduate or undergraduate programs. This position would work closely with faculty officers (Directors of Graduate and/or Undergraduate Studies) and other contacts within the College and University levels and provides support to faculty and students in the graduate or undergraduate program for a variety of administrative and academic processes and procedures. This position requires an understanding of undergraduate and graduate course scheduling, academic milestones, and administrative policies and procedures for each of the three departments, as well as how these policies and procedures integrate university-wide. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in the use of the MS Office Suite, especially Excel, is highly valued. Experience with information management systems (Campus Solutions/LionPath/iTwo/Digital Measures) and Work Day, knowledge of The Pennsylvania State University policies would be advantageous. Previous experience in an academic setting is helpful. Ideal candidates will have excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of professionalism. The individual should be able to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member with a minimum of supervision and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its forms.
