The Student Farm at Penn State has internship openings for current Penn State students interested in working and learning with the Student Farm in our fifth growing season! This is an exciting season as the farm is in the process of expanding from one acre to over three acres. Visit studentfarm.psu.edu to learn more about the program. Interns will be accountable for ensuring safety, maintaining quality produce, and contributing to a fun, collaborative, and educational work environment. Students will learn about and engage in farm management, production, and marketing while incorporating community and education through coordinating volunteers, tours, class visits, events, and more. Anyone can apply. Experience in relevant fields is welcome, but not required. More important is the motivation to learn and contribute to a positive work environment. Pay is $11.00 per hour. Work is full-time over the summer and 12-15 hours per week during the semester. Work is primarily outdoors but includes some computer-based work such as record keeping and blog writing. The position requires enrolling in a few credits during the spring and/or fall for training and reflection assignments. Reliable transportation to the Student Farm and between the Student Farm and campus is required. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties and driving a university vehicle as needed. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
