Financial Planning and Operations, a division of Penn State Information Technology (IT), is seeking a Financial Manager to join the team. This position reports to the Manager of Financial Services and is responsible for day-to-day supervision of the Financial Processing Team. This includes establishing a skills development plan for the team as well as executing performance evaluations, goal setting, hiring, interviewing and training of staff and other administrative responsibilities such as attendance and managing office coverage. In addition, the Financial Manager I performs routine and ad hoc reporting and data analysis, prepares budget reporting and projections, analyzes the impact of SIMBA on the overall operations of Financial Services while maintaining, auditing, enforcing and communicating the continuous improvement of Penn State IT standardized purchasing processes and procedures. This position also approves financial documents and transactions for the unit, as delegated, recommends changes to approval paths and process improvements, provides advice on budget management and provides metrics for review and analysis. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field strongly preferred. The position requires an emphasis of communication responsibilities, including attentive listening, speaking, writing and gathering feedback from sub-units of Penn State IT to continuously strive for providing excellent and timely customer service. The successful candidate must be able to build and maintain collaborative relationships both internal and external to Penn State; verify accuracy of transaction level activity (income and expense) within the Integrated Business Information System (IBIS) and Employee Reimbursement System (ERS); reporting. Must be able to excel independently and in a team environment. This position requires strong organizational, time management and interpersonal communication skills. In addition, a strong attention to detail and a commitment to diversity and inclusion is required. Excellent working knowledge of accounting/financial systems and associated reporting systems such as iTwo and Data Warehouse, and knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications is preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
