Penn State Schuylkill is accepting applications for an Administrative Support Staff member to support the Student Aid and Registrar Offices. The position serves as the first point of contact for walk-in students and telephone calls. This position assists with basic level financial aid inquiries, such as filing a FAFSA, completing master promissory notes and loan entrance counseling and assists students and parents in applying for plus and private loans. This position also assists Registrar’s office with general registration inquires such as dropping and adding classes and assisting students with their pre-registration guide. This position contacts students via telephone or e-mail, to assist them with completing and submitting forms. The successful candidate needs to be able to read and understand Cost of Attendance and aid documents that will be applied to create bottom line sheets for students and families that attend New Student Orientation. Also, needs to be able to communicate billable costs and aid available and go over additional aid options. This position will assist with scholarships such as checking student lists for eligibility such as enrollment, campus, GPA. This position may also post recruitment scholarships via the external load form after students have been selected by the committee. Miscellaneous duties include: Assisting with any financial aid events as needed such as working the financial aid table at open houses or other recruitment events, being available to meet with families during new student orientation and assisting with the overall coordination of the Veterans Day Ceremony. Serving as a back-up for the Financial Aid Coordinator and Registrar when they are away from the office. This is a temporary position that will work up to 40 hours a week initially due to the extended absence of an existing staff member. Length of employment is not known but is anticipated to be several months. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
