As a new position, the Manager of Public Programs will be responsible for the launch of the Arboretum’s new public programs initiative, which is being introduced via a three-year pilot. As the staff member principally in charge of this initiative, the Manager will be responsible for initiating, managing, and/or facilitating new and existing educational and experiential programs for the Arboretum’s public. The Manager will work with Arboretum staff, Penn State faculty, and non-University instructors to develop, publicize, coordinate, and execute mission-related classes, workshops, events, and other experiences in the Arboretum. Pre-launch responsibilities will include program benchmarking, business plan development, establishment of program registration and payment infrastructure, and development of a marketing and promotions strategy and related materials. The successful candidate will be expected to offset support through program revenues. Entrepreneurial initiative and ability to integrate well with the Arboretum team will be key personal attributes. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
