The Family and Child Health Project in the Biobehavioral Health Department is looking to hire an Education Program Associate to work on a large-scale nutrition education project. The project is focused on promoting healthy eating and active living in low-income families in several rural counties throughout Central Pennsylvania. The Education Program Associate will be responsible for planning and implementing educational programs with both children and adults, conducting on-site research assessments in preschool classrooms and during other programming, including observing teachers delivering the curricula, observing the classroom environment, and conducting one-on-one interviews with children. Additional responsibilities include assisting with data entry, and managing social media channels. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in Nutrition or Nutrition Education and previous research, nutrition education programming (with children and/or adults) and culinary experience is highly desired. We seek candidates with excellent communication skills who are self-motivated, detail-oriented, responsible, and able to multi-task. The ideal candidate will have excellent computer skills and be experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). The strongest candidates will have previous experience leading cooking classes/demonstration, and providing nutrition education programming to preschool- and/or school-aged children. Significant travel to surrounding counties in Pennsylvania is required for this position. The position also requires occasional evening and weekend work. This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term position funded for one year from hire date with excellent possibility of re-funding.
