The laboratory of Dr. B. Franklin Pugh, Willaman Professor of Molecular Biology and Evan Pugh University Professor, is seeking a Research Technologist 2. The Pugh lab ( conducts state-of-the-art research in molecular biology and computational biology, with emphasis in eukaryotic gene regulation, transcription, epigenetics, epigenomics, tumor diagnostics, and high-throughput computer-aided analytic workflows. This position is responsible for the preparation of DNA and RNA enriched for specific biochemical features, preparation of libraries for high throughput DNA sequencing, and sample tracking through a LIMS. Duties will include the design and development of complex experimentation with robotic systems in support of lab research, review progress and evaluate results. Requires ability to program liquid robotics systems and provide regular assessments and reporting of the outcomes. Responsibilities also include the growth of mammalian cells in culture, and laboratory support activities, such as ordering supplies and performing additional experiments at the request of research faculty and other senior lab members Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates will typically possess a moderate to high understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology principles, preferably a Master’s degree in a related field with a cumulative GPA greater than 3.0. A minimum of 1-year experience is required in a molecular biology and biochemistry lab, cell culture, and a good sterile technique.
