Description

The Family and Child Health Project, in the College of Health and Human Development, is seeking applications for a part-time Project Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of our community nutrition education outreach projects in several rural counties throughout Central Pennsylvania. Specific responsibilities include: Procurement, sorting and delivery of foods and education supplies to participating preschool classrooms and schools in various Central PA locations; Assisting with the delivery of nutrition education lessons to preschool and elementary school children, and to adults; Data collection with children and teachers in participating classrooms; Data entry; Communicating project activities through various social media channels; Maintaining project supplies and materials; Managing the research kitchen and supplies. This is a part-time position with regular hours averaging 20-25 hours per week; occasional weekend and evening work is required. A Bachelor`s degree in Nutrition, Health Sciences, Human Development or a related field is preferred. The strongest candidates will have prior experience delivering nutrition education to children and research experience with children, including data entry. The Project seeks a candidate who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, responsible, great with communication, creative, and able to multi-task, as the projects are varied. This position requires regular contact with children, considerable travel (within the confines of a workday), and operation of a Penn State motor vehicle. A valid driver`s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required, in addition to the standard background checks. This position also requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check (these must be completed before employment starts).
