The Office of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Business/ Treasurer is seeking a Project Manager (PM) to facilitate the identification, development, planning, implementation and monitoring of strategic initiatives in support of the University’s Resource Optimization Initiative (ROI). Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance and Business, the position will work collaboratively as part of a dedicated project management team charged with analyzing, tracking, monitoring and reporting on the efforts of various priority work streams focused on achieving defined cost savings, operational efficiencies and revenue enhancements to the University. The PM will develop and maintain an effective project management and tracking system to facilitate regular reporting on initiatives to various constituencies, including University executive leadership, and serve as liaison to various work streams in assessing progress toward established goals. The PM will work with many levels of University executives, administrators and staff to lead project efforts based on industry (Project Management Institute) best practices. The PM will be supported by a project team consisting of administrative support and a business analyst to assist in collecting, analyzing and presenting both qualitative and quantitative information on the impact of targeted initiatives in order to facilitate senior decision-making; develop appropriate financial and program impact measures, or other appropriate “dashboard metrics” in support of the ROI initiative; facilitate work with outside consultants in investigating and analyzing targeted areas of cost-savings and operational efficiencies; conduct in-depth, high level benchmarking studies and analyses and prepare reports and/or presentations on comparative higher education resource optimization and cost-savings initiatives. In addition, an organizational change manager will work alongside the PM to manage the change process and ensure Penn State organizational change management best practices are implemented. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A solid background in project management practice and methodology is essential, supported by demonstrable skills of leadership, judgment and communication. The Project Manager must have a strong customer service orientation and an understanding of Penn State culture and constituent needs. This position also requires a thorough understanding of transition processes in order to facilitate successful progress from project initiation and execution, to deployment and operations. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills required, including a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in all its forms. The successful candidate must be able to creatively problem solve, be detail-oriented, and have strong time management skills. Required competencies also include: strong relationship building skills, interest in continuous learning, effective organization and project management skills to meet multiple deadlines and achieve results, creativity and innovation, strong analytical skills, general facilitation skills, strategic thinking skills, and excellent verbal and written communications skills. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
