Description

Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) at Penn State is seeking an experienced 3D Graphic Artist. You will be expected to sculpt, model, texture, rig and animate a variety of types of 3D assets, to be rendered in real-time, and used in Virtual Reality and other immersive experiences. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The ability to model in both realistic and artistic styles is a must. You should have a deep understanding of form, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets. You should have a strong interest and a passion for games. You must be able to take direction from creatives leads and work with programmers. A solid foundation in graphic design, including UI elements, is required. Other requirements include: experience with 3DS Max, Maya, Substance Designer/Painter, Photoshop, Illustrator or other comparable creation tools; must be comfortable with both hard surface and organic modeling; problem-solving and prototyping abilities; experience with grey boxing and rapid prototyping; LOD Modeling experience; ability to estimate and stay within polygon budgets; an eye for light, shade, color, form and function; experience with creating Unity compatible Materials and Shaders; must be a team player able and work well under pressure; must be self-motivated and passionate about making immersive experiences; ability to work well both independently and in a collaborative environment; experience exporting assets for use in Unity; and you must have an online portfolio. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
