The Division of Education, Human Development, and Social Sciences and the Kinesiology program invites applications for the tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Kinesiology with a specialty in Biomechanics, to begin August 2020. The position requires a Ph.D. in kinesiology, exercise science, health and human performance or related field, no later than at the time of appointment. Candidates must be able to teach courses in the area of biomechanics and could include courses such as anatomy, neurobiology, research methods, as well as other courses that fit within the needs of the kinesiology degree program and the candidate’s expertise. The position requires the teaching of three courses per semester, conducting original research published in peer-reviewed journals, and providing related service. Each candidate must demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching, an ability to collaborate with undergraduate research and engaged scholarship, and an ability to develop upper level courses. Each candidate should demonstrate the potential for scholarly research and the ability to obtain extramural funding for their research. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with a faculty dedicated to ensuring the highest quality education for Altoona students while also encouraging individual growth, cultural awareness, ethical decision-making, and civic responsibility. Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to continually develop as a teacher are critical. Finally, successful candidates are expected to provide service to the College, the community, and the profession. Employment will require successful background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
