The Penn State Gender Equity Center is seeking an Assistant Director. The Assistant Director provides supervision for education and outreach staff and provides leadership and guidance in the assessment of Gender Equity Center programs and events. The Assistant Director serves as a content expert related to sexual violence, relationship violence and stalking in a college population context. The Assistant Director must be a strong communicator, who assists with public speaking on behalf of the Center and facilitates/attends outreach programs for students, faculty and staff as needed. The Assistant Director must be able to engage in respectful dialogue around sensitive topics with challenging audiences. The Assistant Director will assist with office coverage and provide appropriate emotional support, accommodations, advocacy, and resource referrals for students who visit the Gender Equity Center, in collaboration with the Director. Experience with crisis intervention and a commitment to diversity and inclusion are necessary. The Assistant Director must be able to build rapport with students and demonstrate sensitivity and professionalism in interactions with all students and stakeholders. The Assistant Director will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive situations. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in an education or social science related discipline or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to four years of relevant experience are preferred. Familiarity with Clery, Title IX, VAWA and FERPA is preferred. Candidates with 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience are also preferred. This position requires some evening and weekend work. Individuals with prior experience working with people impacted by sexual and relationship violence and providing education about these issues in a Higher Education setting are encouraged to apply.
