Description

Penn State Student Affairs is seeking a highly motivated, customer service focused Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist. The Information Technology Specialist, supervised by the Lead IT Support Specialist, will have the following responsibilities: Provide basic and intermediate assistance to Student Affairs' staff on technology-related concerns. Set-up and ensure proper use of computer hardware and software including peripherals on Window and MAC based computers. Perform administration and repairs as required. Using provided tools, monitor operational performance and analyze system problems. Isolate the cause of system failures and resolve or escalate to the appropriate individual(s). Research and provide feedback on the purchase of new computer hardware and software. Assess training needs and make recommendations. Assist with the management of Student Affairs computer related inventory by ensuring that the asset management database is kept up to date. Attend monthly Student Affairs Information Technology staff meetings and other Service Desk meetings as requested. Assist with vendor maintenance agreements, software licenses, software library and computer related supplies. Provide a very high level of customer focus on all interactions. The successful candidate will have a high level of knowledge and experience with Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office Suite. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in general network analysis, general knowledge of networks using TCP/IP is preferred. Knowledge of basic ITIL is highly desired. Experience with a MAC environment is highly desired. Periodic weekend work could be required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
