Description

The Logistics and Operational Effectiveness Division of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking a Department Head for the Applied Enterprise Systems (AES) Department. Responsibilities include: Serve as a technical and functional leader in the fields of Enterprise Resource Management (ERP), Robotics Process Automation (RPA), and Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM); understand our customer’s current and future technical and process challenges, and create the vision and strategy for how the AES department will solve them; lead new customer development efforts and business generation; prepare written and/or verbal presentations/proposals on complex issues and deliver to a broad variety of audiences; participate in defense, academic, and industry ERP, RPA, and SCRM communities; promote a thriving research and development environment to foster creativity and collaboration; and serve as a leader to the AES Department to include personnel management, recruitment, development, and retention of employees. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline (Master's degree preferred) or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master’s degree Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Science is desired. Preferred experience areas include: Defense business systems; defense force management systems; supply chain management and security systems; distributed ledger systems implemented with block chain technology; and business process engineering. Leadership of tasks related to ERP instantiation, configuration, and process refinement; functional and technical knowledge of RPA for business process enhancement; and technical team leadership and management is required.
