Would you like to be on the cutting edge of new initiatives on campus? Then check out this position for the 2020-2021 school year!! Penn State Career Services (CS) seeks undergraduate students interested in a paraprofessional, leadership, and part-time paid employment opportunity providing student outreach support. Outreach Interns will serve as Career Services ambassadors and provide quality support and outreach for the Center and its constituencies. Outreach Interns will primarily participate in Career Services outreach, presentation and tabling events, to enthusiastically market our services to specific student populations. Outreach Interns will also provide team member support for special events and assist with resume and cover letter review during busy seasons. Applications will be reviewed starting October 28, 2019 and interviews scheduled on a rolling basis. Candidate decisions will be made in late November. Skills and Qualifications: Ability to be enthusiastic in telling students about what Career Services has to offer; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Exceptional time management and reliability; Willingness to try new things, and be creative; ALL majors encouraged to apply – no prior knowledge of resumes or career services is necessary; All degree levels considered, assuming you will be a registered student for the 2020-2021 school years; Able to dedicate roughly 10 hours per week; Must be available to attend Spring 2020 1-credit course for training – Outreach Interns are not hired until they complete this course successfully. Key Responsibilities: Promote Penn State Career Services to undergraduate students; Educate your peers about CS resources and help them to achieve their career goals; Represent CS at outreach presentations and tabling events around campus on a variety of CS-related topics (CS Orientation, Resume Writing, etc.); Act as liaisons to various academic units and administrative offices on campus, particularly those that serve special student populations; Propose ideas from a student perspective; Assist in the training/hiring of future Outreach Interns; Communicate personal areas of interest to influence project assignments and opportunities; Attend regular Outreach team meetings; Assist Peer Career Assistants with undergraduate students seeking help and information about resumes, cover letters, and other career-related topics during busy seasons.
