The Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute and Department of Medicine at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania seeks a human science researcher with expertise in cardiovascular function and oxygen transport for a fixed-term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have expertise in using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to assess skeletal muscle oxygen transport in human subjects; and will have demonstrated the ability to successfully lead an interdisciplinary research team comprised of physiologists, radiologists, and clinicians. In addition to studying patients with primary cardiovascular disease, the candidate will also expand the department’s current portfolio by conducting research in patient populations not currently investigated by department faculty. Examples would include patients with spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, or orthopedic conditions. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to procure extramural funding, evident by a history of funding at the fellowship level or higher. Requirements for the position include a doctoral degree in a related field, at least one year of postdoctoral experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications as a primary or senior author.
