The Office of Student Conduct (OSC) at Penn State Harrisburg strives to deliver programs and services that encourage students to make informed and healthy decisions pursuant to their goals and to be responsible community members. The OSC is current seeking candidates who are passionate, engaged and dedicated to this work to fulfill a full-time Case Manager position. The Case Manager reports to, and supports the Associate Director of Student Engagement, Residence Life and Student Conduct with student conduct office programs and services. The position’s primary responsibility is to hear conduct cases, including meeting with students, gathering information, interpreting and applying the university code of conduct and monitoring sanctions. The conduct process includes student and student organization conduct for the Penn State Harrisburg campus, which is comprised of more than 5,000 students. Additional responsibilities include education and outreach to faculty, staff and students. As well as education for volunteers with the conduct office e.g. advisers, board members, sanction review officers and appeal officers. The hearing board responsibilities typically include recruitment, training for faculty, staff and students and hearing board facilitation. Education and outreach may include representing the OSC at admissions and welcome week events, as well as, leading first year seminars (FYS) and new faculty orientation. The Case Manager will uphold the integrity and ethical standards of the student conduct process, adhere to policy and procedure, and maintain timely communication with students and other involved parties. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have the ability to analyze and assimilate sometimes complex and conflicting information, be able to demonstrate mature decision-making and have experience working with students. The successful candidate will possess a customer service orientation; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and organization skills; and the ability to work within systems designed to support persons of varying cultures and backgrounds. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
