The Pennsylvania State University seeks a Director of Campus Development for its Shenango Campus. Located in Sharon, Pennsylvania, Shenango is a Commonwealth Campus of approximately 500 students, that offers both Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs, plus the first two years of more than 275+ Penn State degrees. This position reports directly to the executive director of development at Penn State, University Park, and has a close working relationship with the campus director and chief academic officer. As a member of the University Development team you can play an integral role in one of the most respected and successful fundraising programs in the country. The director will provide leadership and direction to all aspects of the development programs at the campus. This individual develops annual goal-setting and fundraising plans and directs activities in support of achieving goals and objectives; works collaboratively with campus leadership, campus advisory board, campaign committee volunteers, and central University Development staff to ensure fundraising success. This individual will build and foster relationships with increasingly diverse internal and external stakeholders; lead campus’ development efforts to successfully identify, cultivate, and solicit alumni and friends; complete a total of twelve monthly visits with prospects and donors; manage a development budget; develop and present formal proposals; interpret research information pertinent to relationship building with potential donors; possess a capacity to think and act strategically. This person must work collaboratively with campus leadership, staff, volunteers and donors to create and implement plans to secure philanthropic gifts at a level of ($2,500 to $99,999), as well as major gifts ($100,000+). This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master's degree is preferred. Candidates should possess additional years of fundraising or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidate should have a track record of exceeding fundraising goals. Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, proven ability to self-motivate, and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, are integral. The successful candidate shall have a passion for higher education, understand complex organizations and have a willingness to engage and collaborate with diverse communities. This position requires travel, and that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
