The Penn State Hershey Department of Surgery/ Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery is seeking to hire a Research Technologist, level 1 or 2. This position is in the laboratory of Drs. Yochum and Koltun. The lab investigates the genetic basis of intestinal diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, and colorectal cancer. The applicant should have experience with basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as PCR, RT-qPCR, plasmid sub-cloning, immunoprecipitations, western blotting, etc. Experience with immunohistochemistry is a plus. We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to assist the principal investigator with work involving the role of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway in the intestinal epithelium. The job also requires assistance with IRB and IACUC protocols when needed, ordering supplies, and helping to train students in the lab. Successful applicants should have a degree in Biology or related field. Please upload your CV along with contact information for three references. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with the possibility of refunding.
