Penn State Shenango invites applications for a full-time faculty position, Lecturer in or Assistant Teaching Professor (rank commensurate with qualifications) of Health Policy Administration (HPA), fixed-term multi-year, 36 weeks, to begin August 2020, or as negotiated. Penn State Shenango and Penn State Beaver are starting a new baccalaureate program in health policy and administration. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty at both campuses to deliver a portion of the curriculum to multiple campuses using a variety of distance and face-to-face delivery methods and to coordinate the shared program as needed. This position will be with Penn State Shenango but entail regularly travelling to the Penn State Beaver campus and community to teach classes, oversee field experiences, and coordinate the shared program. The campuses are approximately 1 hour driving distance apart. Responsibilities: Teach four courses (12 credits) each semester across two campuses. Courses will include general health care management and finance classes with upper level specialty courses within the field. Courses will also include Field Experience in HPA and may include Intro to Health Services Organizations, Professional Development in HPA, Financial Decisions in Health Care Organizations, and Health Systems Management. Teaching schedules are dependent on program and student needs. Delivery methods include face-to-face, hybrid, and online teaching. Participate in course, curriculum, and program development and coordinate shared program in collaboration with University College and University Park HPA program. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, department, college, university, and community service activities; and engage in activities to stay current in the discipline (including attendance at national pedagogical and field conferences). Requirements: Ph.D. in health care related field and/or a Master’s degree with relevant health care experience. Ability to support a diverse student body and campus community, including appreciation and respect of differences in race and ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, religious affiliation, age and life experience, nationality and language, and in physical capabilities. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the use of instructional technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
