The Advancement and Giving Specialist (AGS), Four Diamonds manages the process of identifying, qualifying, personally soliciting and cultivating a portfolio of 300-400 current donors and 150 prospective donors, some of whom have the capacity to give $1,000 or more to Penn State Hershey Medical Center and the Penn State College of Medicine through Four Diamonds, THON, and Four Diamonds Mini-THONs. The AGS will solicit funds to further the mission of conquering childhood cancer to support research and patient and family care from individuals to include Faculty and Staff, grateful patient families, Penn State alumni, and parents of students participating in THON and/or Mini-THON. The AGS will develop annual giving program strategy and services in collaboration with THON, working closely with THON’s student leadership team to include students in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and/or stewardship of donors through THON. The AGS will maintain positive, productive relationships with colleagues in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, across the Penn State Hershey Medical Center campus and outlying offices, and throughout the University. The AGS will analyze giving to determine patterns and opportunities for developing sustainable strategies to increase number of donors and number/amount of gifts to support Four Diamonds, THON and Mini-THON. Specifically, the AGS will solicit 40 prospects and donors per month via phone, email, letter, and/or personal visits in an effort to raise incremental revenue for Penn State Hershey. At a minimum, fifteen of those solicitations will be conducted via personal visits. The AGS will identify and qualify prospects, schedule donor visits, solicit prospects for increased annual giving commitments ($1,000+), make leadership level asks, move constituents toward annual leadership and major gift solicitation, prepare and submit proposals, steward donors, and record activity and track results. Keep current with and be able to convey information about Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine, Four Diamonds and THON so as to effectively cultivate, solicit and steward constituents. Work closely with Prospect Tracking on reporting and analysis and report on progress of goals for the team. Develop a working knowledge of the fundraising database and other information and tracking systems to effectively update and manage progress toward personal solicitation goals, including donor visits and contacts. The AGS will conduct other duties as may be assigned. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Strong oral and written communications skills. Ability to effectively present to audiences, large and small. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills. Ability to work with a variety of constituencies, including donors, volunteers, students, patients, faculty and staff. The AGS is someone who is both team and goal oriented. Must be able to complete projects within deadlines and be detail-oriented. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to successfully plan and achieve short-term and long-term fundraising goals. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Requires travel and flexible schedule, including some weekend and evening work. This position requires that the successful candidate operate a motor vehicle as part of their job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year with excellent possibility of re-funding.
