Description

The Gene-Environment Interplay Lab, directed by Dr. Jenae Neiderhiser, is seeking a highly organized and team-oriented person to serve as a part-time Recruiter. This position involves recruiting children and parents as part of a longitudinal research project that has been following families from infancy through adolescence (the Early Growth and Development Study: EGDS). The EGDS is a collaborative project with data collection sites at Penn State, George Washington University (GWU), and the University of Oregon (UO). We are collecting new data from participants during middle childhood and adolescence and from siblings of participants as part of two recently funded National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants. Recruitment includes contacting families by telephone, mail, and occasionally social media. The Recruiter is the primary contact with families in the study and provides the family with information about the study and schedules in-person visits. The Recruiter also contacts families to remind them to complete on-line questionnaires, to send in samples that may have been sent to the home, and responds to inquiries and project-related questions from participants. This position requires close communication with the research team, collaboration and coordination with all research sites including regular conference calls and other contact. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or higher, an ability to communicate effectively, comfort working with children and families, and a great deal of attention to detail. Please contact Dr. Neiderhiser (jenaemn@psu.edu) or Dr. Seay (danielle.seay@psu.edu) with questions about this position. This is a part-time, 20 hours a week position.
