Penn State Wilkes-Barre invites applications for a Lecturer in Surveying Engineering with a preference for a candidate who will serve as Program Coordinator. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, fixed term appointment to begin Fall 2020 (or earlier, as negotiated). The initial appointment is for one year (36 week) with an excellent possibility of reappointment. Responsibilities: Teach an average of four (4) courses and associated labs each semester in Surveying and related disciplines; an average of three (3) if the candidate serves as Program Coordinator to lead the program into its next decade of excellence. The successful candidate will be committed to using non-traditional delivery methods including, but not limited to, video-conferencing, online delivery and accelerated formats. Demonstrate leadership in professional organizations and with advisory boards. Join the faculty in course, curriculum, and program development, with a preference for leadership. Advise students and provide career guidance. Involve students in undergraduate research and professional activities. Participate in campus, University, and community service activities. Engage in activities to stay current in the discipline. Master of Science is preferred in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related area at the time of hiring.Field experience is preferred. Expertise in Land Development, Cadastre, and Storm Water Hydrology is highly preferred. Commitment to high quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Industry experience and prior college-level teaching experience preferred, as well as an interest in active and collaborative learning and the instructional use of technology. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important. The successful candidate will have a Professional license in Surveying in Pennsylvania or a commitment to be licensed within two years. Penn State Wilkes-Barre is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses statewide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 500 students; about 20% are adult learners. Nine baccalaureate degrees are offered as well as the coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors. Students and faculty at Penn State Wilkes-Barre have all of the resources of a major research University at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere with a low student/faculty ratio.
