Description

The Physical Security Office, a division of University Police and Public Safety, is seeking an experienced Security Systems Administrator. The primary role is to provide central administration and management of University-Wide electronic Security and Life Safety technologies. The position shall act as primary Physical Security liaison for technical efforts to implement, operationalize, and maintain security technologies. Duties will involve extensive collaboration with the various University Information Technology (IT) units that manage the servers and networks that the security appliances rely upon. Duties will include: complete administration/management of Security appliances (IE; access controls, cameras, intrusion/hold-up alarm panels, fire alarm panels, and surveillance servers) that reside on the University-wide SecNet; coordinate with Information Technology, Office of Physical Plant, Police and Public Safety and others to ensure SecNet infrastructure is configured and operating properly; maintain health monitoring of network connected security appliances; take lead on security technology and network troubleshooting; assist the Director of Physical Security with vetting, provisioning, and oversight of all persons who are granted access to surveillance and other electronic security technologies; provide primary stewardship over server-based video surveillance platform and the Universities digital alarm receiver/server employed at the Police Communications Center. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It is highly desirable that the successful candidate possess knowledge and experience with electronic security technologies including access controls, IP based video surveillance, and video servers. Must be proficient in maintenance, administration, and troubleshooting of network appliances and have working knowledge of various operating systems. Knowledge of networks, firewalls, and ACLs (Access Control Lists) is also required. This position will be based in the University Police and Public Safety at University Park. This is a full-time position that may require up to 10% travel. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to FBI background security checks. There will be an expectation to work events such as Penn State football games. The position will report to the Director of Physical Security and the primary office will be in the University Support Building 1.
