The Digital Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, creating, posting and distributing strategic, branded digital content and communications for the Invent Penn State initiative and its affiliated programs and business units in the Office of the Vice President for Research. These units include the Office of Entrepreneurship & Commercialization, the Office of Technology Management, The Office of Industrial Partnerships and the Penn State Corporate Engagement Center. This role also supports Happy Valley LaunchBox and the other LaunchBoxes and Innovation Hubs. The successful candidate will join an energetic team of inspired doers who develop programs for innovators and entrepreneurs and celebrate their successes at Penn State through expert communications. A significant part of this role is content development and repurposing written, photographic, video, newsletter stories, Penn State News stories, media releases and social media posts and is integral to Invent Penn State’s success. Primary duties include: Audience aware content planning, creation, management and maintenance across multiple digital media sites and websites; creation of intellectual property and company profiles; maintenance of image libraries and coordination of access for multiple stakeholders; and collaboration with key stakeholders to promote entrepreneurship events and programs. As a member of a small team, the ideal candidate will work independently, have accountability and self-management skills to reach agreed upon goals and deadlines, and report monthly on digital media outcomes. The successful candidate will be goal-oriented and deadline-oriented, be able both to take direction and to take initiative; be flexible with the ability to transition quickly between projects; and have excellent problem-solving skills. The Digital Marketing Communications Specialist will have expert digital marketing skills, enjoy working with digital communications technology and bring best practices to the job. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated proficiency in working with WordPress, Salesforce, Adobe Suite editing applications, MailChimp (or comparable platforms) and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter) in a business or agency setting. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
