The College of Engineering is seeking an experienced individual to lead the alumni and volunteer engagement efforts in the college. The College of Engineering is home to a world-class faculty, an undergraduate program that is the second-largest in the nation, and interdisciplinary research and hands-on education that prepares students for success in a rapidly changing world ( The Director of Alumni Relations, Events and Volunteer Engagement in the College of Engineering reports to the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations, and works closely with the College’s Development team, Deans, and academic leadership to engage alumni and other key stakeholders in meaningful work to enhance the reputation of the college. As a member of the College of Engineering Development and Alumni Relations team this role is responsible for planning, management, and strategic growth of volunteer programs and alumni engagement activities involving College and Department academic leadership. Initiate, plan, and manage college programs and special events both on and off campus. Provide leadership, oversee activities and strategic growth of existing alumni boards and committees (such as Penn State Engineering Alumni Society, Affiliate Program Groups, etc.) to achieve strategic engagement goals, collaborate with volunteer board leadership, manage alumni committees, and assist with the development and implementation of the alumni board’s strategic plan. Identify and recruit alumni for participation in programs and other volunteer activities. Oversee planning and execution of current and future college alumni awards and recognition processes to include: Outstanding Engineering Alumni Awards, Penn State Engineering Alumni Society. Coordinate nomination of College of Engineering alumni for University-level recognitions, awards and accolades. Act as liaison between college of engineering and Penn State Alumni Association. Manage all aspects of college involvement in University alumni programs. Work with college communications team to develop strategies and tools for marketing and communicating with alumni and encouraging increased involvement and engagement opportunities. Maintain a web presence for alumni boards, affiliate program groups, and committees. Supervise support staff. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate should demonstrate advanced knowledge of principles and practices of alumni relations and/or volunteer engagement. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Be a strategic thinker. Have effective organization and project management skills. Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position’s duties and a valid driver's license are required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required.
