The Penn State Division of Development and Alumni Relations is looking for a self-motivated and disciplined individual for the Database Specialist position in the Information Systems office. This candidate must have experience in relational database management systems Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. Duties include Building, configuring, administering, upgrading, debugging, backups, and applying patches on databases. Supporting existing software application systems and/or design system architecture to accommodate (through new development or integration of existing systems and databases) the data, processing, and analysis needs of the business. Preserving the performance, integrity, and security of databases. Providing specialized support and consultation services to application development teams and database users. Retain a constructive professional relationship and collaborate with network administrators, system administrators, database administrators, consultants, and application engineers. Developing, optimizing, problem Solving, and administering the extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes using tools like SQL Server Data Tools, PowerShell, Windows batch scripts, SQL/T-SQL, and PL/SQL. Also, performing other database administrative duties. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Candidates must possess strong problem solving, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills, as well as the ability to excel in team environments.
