The Human Resources Department of the Applied Research Laboratory is seeking an Intern to provide administrative support on a mixture of day-to-day responsibilities, as well as special projects, in a fast-paced environment. This internship offers a close-up view to the operation of a Human Resources department and provides opportunities to shadow different areas of human resources. Responsibilities can include: Greet customers, answer telephone, provide directions or information, and solve routine issues; collate, staple, and distribute duplicated materials; receive, process, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and materials; schedule/cancel appointments and meetings; create new hire unit-specific packets and conduct the onboarding process for new hires at ARL; create new employee files, maintain office files, and break down terminated employee files; maintain inventory of office equipment and supplies; perform routine data entry; open, sort, and distribute mail; deliver and/or pick up and distribute documents, awards, or supplies; assist with routine travel arrangements and expense reports; assist with preparation for career fairs and other events; perform other general human resources duties; and perform project work as needed. Experience in a Human Resources environment is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) is required. You must be a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter who possesses the ability to exercise discretion and has excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills, including verbal and written communication skills. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
