The College of Health and Human Development seeks a dynamic communications professional to support the strategic communications functions of the college. The Senior Marketing and Communications Strategist will be a member of the Communications and Marketing team, reporting to the director. The Strategist will serve as a proactive lead for a range of communications and marketing deliverables, with specific expertise on content strategy and development related to core messaging. Deliverables will include editorial, promotional, and outreach initiatives designed to increase visibility of the college and its constituent units, and to drive action among their respective key publics. Typical areas of focus include planning/consulting, writing, and dissemination of content, including news, feature, and research stories; editorial publications including newsletters, magazines/e-magazines, and annual reports; websites and social media channels; email campaigns; marketing collateral materials; and editing/proofreading content. The position requires the ability to create content deliverables that will support stated goals and objectives and measuring activity for effectiveness. The Strategist will be inquisitive, creative, and possess excellent interpersonal skills. The Strategist will work with stakeholders from a variety of professional backgrounds and disciplines, as well as interact with a variety of subjects, including students, faculty and staff members, alumni, and partners. Candidates should understand and show an appreciation for working subjects and audiences with diverse backgrounds. The Strategist will be adept at content development and writing on topics that span a broad spectrum of disciplines, optimizing the content to maximize its utility across a variety of channels. Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, self-discipline, attention to detail, and project management skills. The Strategist will be highly collaborative and have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and/or creative communications production is preferred, as is experience with visual communications (photography, graphics, multimedia, and videography). Understanding of SEO/SEM and web accessibility is helpful. Working knowledge of Office 365, using a content management system(s), and social media platforms are required. Candidates should be prepared to provide writing samples and examples of previous work. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
