The College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) is seeking an Instructional Designer to join their Office of Learning Design team. The successful candidate will provide consultation to faculty and other subject matter experts on the design and development of online and residential instructional materials to support active and collaborative learning in residential and computer-mediated environments. This job may involve undergraduate, graduate, and/or certificate courses in the resident, blended, and/or distance environments. The candidate will work on teams with faculty and staff in the design and development process with the goals of creating scalable, robust eLearning environments and integrating multimedia technology into the classroom or distributed-learning environment. The College of IST is committed to a work/life balance. The successful candidate will have a proven history of participation in the creation of innovative technology assisted learning environments. Familiarity with current learning systems is desired as well as the ability to implement complex projects. Please provide websites and examples of previous work or projects highlighting innovative uses of technology and any project management experience. Experience with graphics, media, and audio is a plus. Abilities with learning management systems (like Canvas), coding, and multimedia tools are desirable, and familiarity of accessibility standards would be a plus. The candidate should have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. In addition, this position requires a strong commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion and teamwork. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
