Description

Student Disability Resources is looking for a Technical Writer to provide descriptions of diagrams, charts, complex images and video content for students with visual disabilities taking Penn State courses. We are looking for writers who are able describe images focusing primarily on the needs of the course. Descriptions need to be concise yet provide information not available through other text or audio channels. The position will also include describing visual elements of films or videos used in a course. A writing sample describing an image may be requested. Other duties may include reformatting diagrams and HTML documents. Communication skills are required as this person will be coordinating projects with multiple units and possibly students and instructors. Willingness to learn and investigate new technology options is also a plus. No knowledge of braille or assistive technology would be required.
