The University Libraries’ Public Relations and Marketing office is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking Graphic Designer to assist in the promotion of Libraries' services, resources, and programs to internal and external audiences through design, print and web-based materials. Duties of the position include producing and maintaining displays of high-visibility, appealing and accessibility-friendly digital and print signage and other promotional and informative content. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in photography and digital photo processing skills is preferred, to schedule, shoot and digitally process photographs of events, collections, personnel and facilities for purposes of marketing/promotion, development and illustration. The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational and customer service skills, be able to handle multiple projects, and consistently meet deadlines. Progressive design sensibilities, strengths in working efficiently while exhibiting high attention to detail and good judgment in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, and dedication to quality and consultative customer service are of the highest priority. The candidate should have a strong visual sense and a developed sensitivity to web-related design and possess excellent proofing skills. The ability to follow Penn State guidelines and web standards is a must. This position requires a self-starter who is able to work independently as well as with a team, who gathers energy from being part of an innovative and dynamic group, and who has the ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects from start to finish. Candidates will demonstrate extensive knowledge of Adobe CS Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro), Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, and strengths in both web-focused design and print publications. Demonstrated competency in videography is preferred but not required.
