The Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP), which resides within the Office of the Vice President for Research, is looking for a Technical Adviser to join this growing program. As a Technical Adviser, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, relationship building, project identification and implementation, reporting, student engagement and PennTAP liaison to Penn State faculty. You will consult with client organizations of all sizes and types to understand organizational issues and needs and provide consultation and training services. You will work closely with Penn State faculty and students to provide students with an opportunity to immerse their learning experience to go beyond the boundaries of the classroom and into the manufacturing world. These workplace solutions are expected to create new jobs and businesses. You will be a part of the PennTAP team that maintains an uncompromising level of quality in all work assignments and you will follow up with clients to evaluate and ensure the effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) of solutions they implement. Your attention to detail and ability to organize workload will allow you to ensure that all projects are properly aligned with PennTAP, Penn State objectives, and that the deliverables meet time and budget requirements. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Competencies critical to success are: technical background, comfort within industrial facilities; results-oriented team player that also works well independently; strong project management skills with an ability to organize a dynamic workload; ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with peers, vendors, and clients; ability to collect, analyze and communicate information, data, and recommendations verbally and in formal reports; and ability to analyze, prioritize, and solve unique problems. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a standard background check will be required. Some overnight travel required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
