Do you like to write? Would you enjoy talking to faculty and students and writing about their research and activities? If yes, then we have an internship for you! Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences offers internships for undergraduate students interested in writing and communications. We are now accepting applications for the fall 2019 internship program. To ensure full consideration, please submit all applications by Sunday, September 15, 2019. Intern tasks focus mainly on researching and writing articles for use on the college’s website and social networking sites. Interns perform background research, interview faculty and students, and write news and feature stories. Other opportunities may include writing press releases, posts for the college’s social media sites, updating content on the college’s website, and taking photographs. Qualifications include: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; Demonstrated ability to multi-task, deliver high quality work, and meet deadlines; Comfort with and aptitude for learning new technology systems; Direct experience working with social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.); Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Hours and Compensation: Internships will be either for-credit or paid. Paid internships are 5-10 hours/week. For-credit internships are variable hours. Hours are scheduled with consideration of applicant’s class schedule.
