Penn State Abington is seeking a Business Administrator who will serve as the Senior Director of Business Operations and Administration. This position is responsible for leading a broad range of administrative functions including, facilities, budget and strategic operational planning for the College. This position reports directly to the Chancellor, is a member of the College’s senior leadership team, will represent the Chancellor’s office on a broad range of key initiatives and administrative matters and has delegated budget executive authority This position has direct oversight of facilities, renovations, new construction, feasibility studies, campus master planning and coordinated responsibilities with the College’s Financial Officer. Additional duties include integrating financial and data modeling and analysis into the decision-making process, providing recommendations to the Chancellor about investments in the College’s strategic initiatives, monitoring and administering operational budgets, developing budget allocation strategies, and long-range plans and strategies for maximizing resources and appropriately managing costs. This position will lead project management activities and direct special projects in support of strategic goals, workforce planning, staffing, budgeting and development of financial models for new initiatives. This position will support the Chancellor in leading project management activities, development of special projects in support of strategic goals, policy development, and budgeting models for new initiatives. The position will be responsible for oversight and direction of risk management and regulatory compliance including the development and maintenance of safety and security programs in conjunction with outside entities such as University Police and government agencies. This position will be tasked with proactively monitoring the budget as well as, administrative, and logistical developments that might impact operations and will establish effective systems across all support units within Business Services to nurture an environment of cooperation, coordination, transparency, efficiency, and cost-effective service delivery. This position has University-wide impact by supporting the operations of a large College at the highest level and developing solutions on highly complex matters that support The Pennsylvania State University’s mission and strategic plan. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Expert knowledge of business systems and significant experience in an academic unit is preferred. The candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills; have the ability to multitask and coordinate several projects simultaneously; prioritize appropriately and monitor deadlines. In addition to excellent technical skills, the candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced office; maintain confidentiality and exercise extremely good judgment and discretion. A high level of proficiency in relevant financial software tools and the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
