Description

Penn State Lehigh Valley is accepting applications for the position of Manager of Maintenance Services. The position primarily serves as a liaison for facilities-related issues and is often the primary point of contact for departmental personnel and other customers at the campus. Responsible for investigating or coordinating responses for facilities problems, complaints, emergencies, special events or other facility issues or operations. Assures compliance with applicable government and regulatory requirements; supervises assigned employees, which includes planning, prioritizing and scheduling work tasks or action plans, leading teams, providing training, and assuring all aspects of a safe work environment for assigned employees and customers. Primary duties: Responsible for 24/7 maintenance of campus. Daily supervision of the Maintenance and Operations crew including verification of work performed. Daily monitoring of work order systems. Close and input work orders verify content information. Schedule inspections internal and external with overseeing agencies. Make campus inspections and create work orders to make the necessary corrections. Verify attendance system and input exceptions. Meet with internal customers to review their needs, make recommendations for solutions and schedule work. Manage department budget. Direct staff meetings. Provide training when needed. Interview and hire new employees when needed. Develop year end, department project, equipment lists and update as needed. Correspond with managers, business partners, customers and vendors, with both email and voice mail. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Related work experience in a K-12 or higher education environment preferred. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check is required in addition to standard background checks.
