Description

The Materials Characterization Laboratory (MCL) is seeking a part-time administrative assistant. MCL is an intense, fast paced user facility that annually serves over 1000 researchers from over 40 Penn State departments and over 90 external organizations. Primary duties for this position include the following: providing new MCL instrument users with training requirements; scheduling appointments, trainings, and meetings using Outlook calendaring and Atlassian Jira; reserving instruments through Penn State’s Research Information Management System (RIMS); data entry; and supporting workshops, instrument user group meetings, and other Materials Research Institute (MRI) events. Other duties include various administrative tasks such as attending meetings, reserving conference rooms, mailing packages, ordering supplies, reconciling purchases, and completing Employee Reimbursement System (ERS) reports. This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with RIMS and JIRA is preferred but not required. The successful applicant must be able to work as an individual and as a team member. Anticipated work schedule will be up to 20 hours per week.
