Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT), a unit of Penn State Information Technology, is looking for a highly motivated and creative individual to manage the IT Accessibility Team (A-Team). The Manager is responsible for providing leadership and vision to the A-Team as it supports and expands the institution-wide initiative to make information technology accessible and usable to all students, faculty and staff, regardless of abilities. The A-Team provides accessibility expertise, and testing, consulting and training services to all units of Penn State. This position works with leadership and staff of IT, General Counsel, Risk Management and Purchasing Services, and all academic, business, and administrative units, to ensure compliance with of the University’s Policy AD69 “Accessibility of Electronic and Information Technology”. This position is called upon to manage the University’s IT accessibility initiative; communicate to leadership and staff the ethical and legal obligations of the University vis-à-vis ADA law; design new, and modify existing, business processes and procedures to institutionalize accessibility; supervise the IT Accessibility Team’s testing, consulting, training, and software development services; advise and supervise testing of existing IT resources and services (including websites, web-based applications, and cloud services), as well as new IT resources, services and products under investigation for procurement; and coordinate training and operational activities with our large accessibility community of practice across a large educational institution. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in IT accessibility required. Requires demonstrated experience in IT accessibility with knowledge of applicable laws and standards including Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA; deep working knowledge of web technologies and accessible coding best practices; techniques for creating accessible content and multimedia; knowledge of assistive technologies for various disabilities including visual, motor, cognitive and hearing impairments; management and staff supervision with excellent interpersonal, communication and team building skills; promoting an inclusive work environment and the ability to work effectively and respectfully with a highly diverse group of people. Certification in some topic related to accessibility and technology preferred (e.g., CPACC, WAS, training-related badges).
